In the Battle Story

Developed as the successor to the RMZ-01 Garius [49][93], the Godos was a small dinosaur-type Zoid of the Helic Republic Army during the Central Continent War era.

Nicknamed the “Small Gojulas” [60][150] and “Dinosaur Killer” [148], it excelled in close combat. Its powerful kick attack could pierce the armor of Zoids in its class with ease [60]. In the early Central Continent War, it was considered the strongest small Zoid [38].

However, its design prioritized offense over defense, resulting in weak protection and high attrition [60].

Besides the normal version, a Heavy Armor Type existed, featuring additional weaponry and radar as well as a modified cockpit. This type was mainly used as a commander’s unit [60][note 29].

The Godos became the Republic’s main small mass-production Zoid in the early war [60]. Later, with the deployment of its successor, the RHI-8 Arosaurer [151], Godos units were used in tandem [152]. But after many Arosaurers were lost in the ZAC 2056 Planet Zi Catastrophe, surviving Godos units returned to active combat during the Western Continent War [153]. At the start of that conflict, it was the Republic’s most widely produced Zoid [60].

By ZAC 2101, newer units such as the Gun Sniper and Snipe Master began replacing it [150].

In Concept Art

In *Zoids Concept Art*, Godos appeared as a close-combat Zoid equipped with twin cannons for both anti-ground and anti-air combat [154]. → See also: “ZOIDS concept art § Featured Zoids”

In HMM (High-End Master Model)

In this version, Godos was retconned to have originated from “Godous”, a temporary upgrade of Garius using over-technology from the Globally III. It shared parts with the small flying Zoid under development (later Pteras).

Although the intended designation was “Godous,” frontline soldiers nicknamed it “Godos” (from the body’s packaging label “GOD.S”), which stuck as the official name.

By the Western Continent War, the Heavy Armor cockpit variant became the standard, and data from the Dos Godos was fed back into production, improving overall performance [155].

Armament & Equipment

  • Beam Cannons (Old) / Small Anti-Air Laser MG (New): Mounted on the tail.

Variations (Godos)

Godos PB

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Dinosaur-type
Armament/Equipment Pile Bunker, 30mm Anti-Zoid Beam Rifle, Small-Caliber Charged Particle Beam Gun, Laser Searcher, Energy Tank

Appearing in the game *Zoids 2: Helic Republic vs Guylos Empire*, this is a modified Heavy Armor Godos fitted with a pile bunker to enhance melee ability [34]. Unlike the anime’s “Pile Bunker Godos” (see below), the pile bunker is mounted above the right shoulder (connection point is the back). Its design follows the CP-08 Pile Bunker Unit, but replicating the PB in model form requires kit modification due to the mounting location.

Phoenix 2

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Dinosaur-type

Appeared in *Shogakukan’s Elementary Schooler Third Grade* magazine (Feb. 1985 issue). A flying Godos with wings on its back. In the story, it appears accompanying the modified Gojulas “Albatross” [128].

Capture Godos

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Dinosaur-type

Appeared in the games *Zoids: Empire vs Republic – Gene of Biomechanical Lifeforms* and *Zoids 2: Helic Republic vs Guylos Empire*. Equipped with a medium-Zoid capture device on its left arm. Classification Dinosaur-type

Published in the MSS series Godos notes. A prototype fitted with a rocket booster pack, with modified head, hip, and legs. The test data contributed to later flying Zoid development [157]. Though unnamed in MSS, a nearly identical design was first illustrated on the 1984 RMZ-11 Godos kit box art [148].

Godos with Enhanced E-Shield

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Dinosaur-type

Also described in the MSS series Godos notes. Equipped with a large back-mounted cannon and arm hardpoints carrying an E-Shield. Due to power demands, operating time was limited [157]. The design first appeared in *Zoids Concept Art* under the name “Godos Enhanced Shield Type” [158].

Pile Bunker Godos

Affiliation Helic Republic / Civilian
Classification Dinosaur-type

Appears in the anime *Zoids (Chaotic Century)* from Episode 37 [55]. Armed with a pile bunker embedded into its right arm. In civilian use, it functioned as heavy construction equipment for rock breaking and excavation.

In Episode 63, Rosa bravely pilots one to confront Hiltz’s Death Stinger.
