A Stegosaurus-type Zoid of the Helic Republic Army developed during the Central Continent War era. Although far smaller and lighter than Gordos, its armor is thick. In the realm of electronic warfare, it is a machine that achieved results surpassing even Gordos.

In ZAC 2056, the planetary catastrophe on Zi caused the loss of the crystal-radar technology, which was Gorhecks’ greatest weapon, but the Republic Development Division restored it through research. Furthermore, in order to neutralize the Dark Spiner’s jamming wave, the output of the crystal radar was increased, and in ZAC 2106, mass production and redeployment were carried out.

Armament & Equipment

(“Old” refers to equipment naming during the Central Continent War era, “New” refers to naming during the Second Intercontinental War era.)

Twin Beam Gun (old) / AZ 250 mm Twin Beam Gun (new)

Mounted on top of the neck.

Twin Missiles (old) / Ground-to-Ground Twin Missile Pods (new)

Mounted on the hardpoints on the sides of the tail.

Missile Pods (old) / All-Weather 3D Antennas (new)

The four protrusions at the tip of the tail. During the Central Continent War era they were missile pods, but in the Second Intercontinental War era they were changed to all-weather 3D antennas.

Omni-Directional Cockpit (old)

The cockpit of the Gorhecks. When boarding or disembarking, a seat deploys beneath the head.

Crystal Radar Unit (old) / Crystal Radar Fins (new)

The dorsal fin of the Gorhecks. It has the performance to instantly search across all frequencies [108], and through linkage with a high-performance computer, it is used broadly from jamming to reconnaissance [16]. In the Second Intercontinental War era, a method existed in which radio waves of differing phases but identical frequencies were used to counter the Dark Spiner’s jamming wave [106]. It is also possible to sever communication between Chimera Blocks and their parent machine via jamming [109].

Delta Box Frame (old)

The body frame of the Gorhecks. This allowed it to successfully mount a larger number of electronic devices [105].

Ultrasonic Drive Engine (old)

Mounted in the duct-like parts on the legs.

AZ Twin Missile Launcher (new)

Mounted underneath the abdomen.

Kit

The kit uses the large wind-up motor “Hi-Power Unit” as its power source, and walks using a simple four-legged walking gimmick with one-piece-molded legs. The distinctive crystal radar is reproduced with clear parts. As linked gimmicks, it has left–right rotation of the head and the twin beam gun directly above it, as well as the opening and closing of the crystal radar unit on the back (only the four central pairs). Manual gimmicks include opening and closing the lower jaw (the boarding hatch beneath the cockpit) and rotating the weapons.

Toshiyuki Horii of Sphius LAB, who participated in production for Zoids Battle Story, commented on his own Twitter that he designed the Gorhecks.

RHI-4 Gorhecks

Released September 1987. Color scheme: black, white, and clear purple.

RZ-066 Gorhecks

Released February 27, 2003. Color scheme: green, gray, and clear orange. Z-POINT is 10.

FZ-010 Gorhecks

Released September 30, 2004. Color scheme: blue, silver, and clear orange. A kit consisting of a Gorhecks with changed molding colors and stickers, bundled with a patrol light. Z-POINT is 13.

Before final release, it was announced under the product name “Z.A.C-10 Gorhecks BPS”.

Appearances in the Work

Battle Story

In the severe winter of ZAC 2106, machines equipped with crystal-radar amplification boosters were active. Working together with Liger Zero Panzer, they confronted the Dark Spiner; when the Zero Panzer was driven into a corner, a Gorhecks rammed and self-destructed, destroying the Dark Spiner in a mutual kill. In the recapture battle of Cook Fortress in early spring the same year, it also participated, successfully blocking the Dark Spiner’s jamming wave.

Anime

In Zoids Fuzors, it is deployed to the Blue City Security Bureau alongside Gojulas Giga and Allosaurer. The Gorhecks BPS equipped with a patrol light (kit name: “FZ-010 Gorhecks”) appears from Episode 1. Machines in the RZ color scheme can also be seen in various locations. Its main pilot is Did.

In the anime Zoids Genesis, it does not appear in the story proper, but its silhouette can be seen in the opening prologue.

A Security Bureau–spec Gorhecks that appears in Zoids Fuzors. This designation was used in magazine publications [24]; in the show itself, it is referred to simply as “Gorhecks.”

Gor Sniper

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Stegosaurus-type

Published in the May 2003 issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic and in Zoids Official Fan Book 4. A “Changemize” machine that strengthens the FZ-010 Gorhecks using parts from the BZ-010 Boldguard. Linkage with the Gorhecks' electronic systems enables ultra-precise firing.

Originally, the 3 mm shaft on the tail—where the Ground-to-Ground Twin Missile Pods would normally be mounted—connects, via joint part J7, to an anti-air gun emplacement composed of the Boldguard’s cockpit, artillery, block, and other parts.

Gor Blade

Published on the product package of FZ-010 Gorhecks. A Unizon Variation of Gorhecks and FZ-005 Leoblaze.

High-Power Light

A variation published on the product package of RHI-4 Gorhecks. This type is equipped with a telescope, living space, parabolic radar, and other features in place of the crystal radar. It is used to investigate unknown areas of Planet Zi.

In the game Zoids -ZOIDS- Evil God Resurrection! ~Geno Breaker Chapter~, it appears under the name “Sitehex”. Among its fixed equipment, the Delta Frame (Delta Box Frame) can also be confirmed.

Radar-Range Booster

A variation published in the Official Fanbook Extra included with the RZ-version Gorhecks. This type mounts a booster device on the crystal radar fins of the dorsal ridge, which increases the output of the electronic warfare equipment and amplifies the crystal’s vibration.

In the battle story included in the same booklet, a booster-equipped type also takes part, but in the illustration, a normal Gorhecks is depicted.

Gorganer

Affiliation Helic Republic
Classification Stegosaurus-type

A modified machine that appeared in Shogakukan’s Zoids Battle Story 3. It mounts a large cannon on its back and the machine is repainted in camouflage colors.

In the story, during the battle of December ZAC 2044, it carried out an attack on Cook Base, operating as the main gun of a disguised iceberg and playing an active role in annihilating the Imperial Northern Fleet while they were anchored.

The machine name is taken from the bonus card included with the January 1988 issue of the grade-school magazine Shogaku Sannensei (3rd Graders), December 1988 issue. However, its first appearance in the January 1988 issue of the same magazine and in Battle Story 3 do not give it a specific name (it is listed simply as “Modified Gorhecks”).

It also appears in the manga Zoids Battle Comic in the April 1988 issue of Shogaku Sannensei. As in the Battle Story, it is loaded onto a mobile fortress disguised as an iceberg and launches an attack on Cook Base, but is destroyed by Franz Hartmann’s hand missile.
