| Rob Herman (Zoids -ZOIDS-) |
A Stegosaurus-type Zoid of the Helic Republic. Because it is gentle and easy to handle, it had been used as transport even prior to the Central Continent War . When the Imperial Army’s development plan for the electronically equipped Red Horn became known, it was modified into an electronic warfare type. Its frame is reinforced by large cylinders on the legs in order to withstand long-distance movement while carrying multiple layers of reconnaissance electronic devices. In ZAC 2033, due to the proclamation of the “National Emergency Law (X-Day)” following the heavy armoring of Imperial Zoids, its armament was also strengthened. In every historically notable Republic operation, there is always the presence of the Gordos conducting reconnaissance information gathering, accurately grasping enemy movements, and offering major support while remaining inconspicuous — it is a machine that can be called the cornerstone of such information warfare.
Because its mobility is low, it is poor at close combat and often struggles even against medium-class units. It withdrew from the front once in ZAC 2044, but by ZAC 2099 its electronic warfare equipment was updated and it was deployed again.
Armament / Equipment
(“Old” refers to equipment naming during the Central Continent War (Phase 1). “New” refers to naming during the Second Intercontinental War (Phase 2).)
105 mm High-Speed Cannon (old) / 105 mm High-Speed Railgun (new)
The guns mounted on the back; among Zoids of the Central Continent War era they possess some of the greatest firepower [45]. They are rear-support weapons; during the Second Intercontinental War era, the new radar made precision long-range fire possible [47].
Panova 20 mm Anti-Air Beam Guns (old) / Panova 20 mm Surface-to-Air Beam Guns (new)
Twin beam guns mounted at the base of the tail. Equipment shared with the Bigasaur, Mammoth, and Gojulas. These are anti-air weapons and useful for intercepting small reconnaissance craft, but have no effect on Shinkers with their level of armor [45].
Gunner-Mounted Maxer 30 mm Beam Gun (old) / AMD 30 mm Twin Beam Gun (new)
A twin beam gun mounted on the top of the tail tip. Shared with Bigasaur, Mammoth, and Gojulas.
20 mm Beam Launcher (old) / TRZ 20 mm Linear Laser Gun, ARZ 20 mm Beam Gun (new)
Beam guns mounted on both sides of the back. During the Second Intercontinental War era, the right-side weapon is the TRZ 20 mm Linear Laser Gun, and the left-side weapon is the ARZ 20 mm Beam Gun. Shared with Bigasaur, Mammoth, and Gojulas.
Maxer 50 mm Gun (old) / Maxer 30 mm Multi-Purpose Machine Gun (new)
One gun on each side of the tail tip, for a total of two. Shared with Bigasaur, Mammoth, and Gojulas.
MAD Magnetic Detector (old) / Titan Spike (new)
The protruding structure on the tail. During the Central Continent War it was a magnetic detector used to locate underground enemies, but in the Second Intercontinental War it was changed to the Titan Spike.
All-Weather 3D Radar (old) / GPS Magnetic Detector (new)
Gordos's dorsal fin. A 3D radar that can detect enemies in all weather conditions, with functions added after the outbreak of the Central Continent War. This allowed it to serve as the Helic Republic’s electronic warfare Zoid, active in communication with allies, forced reconnaissance, information gathering, and jamming. In the Second Intercontinental War of ZAC 2099, the radar was refitted to the GPS Magnetic Detector, renewing its electronic equipment, and enabling linkage with satellites.
In addition, a high-speed computer used in both reconnaissance and attack is installed in the cockpit.
Energy Supply Joint
Installed inside the oral cavity.
Hyper Bite Fang (new)
The fang section of the Gordos.
Kit (Gordos)
The final-version product that uses the Bigasaur-type frame. The linked gimmicks are: left–right movement of the head while opening and closing the mouth, elevation of the body-mounted cannons, and walking. By using the “Modification Set <For Large Republic Mecha>”, customization parts such as the Long-Range Buster Cannon and Energy Tank can also be added.
RBOZ-004 Gordos
Released July 1984.
RZ-008 Gordos
Released August 1999.
Cannoneer Gordos
Released August 2003. A kit containing a Gordos with changed molding colors and stickers, along with additional equipment (the old-series “Modification Set <For Large Republic Mecha>” remolded in light blue), was sold exclusively at Happinet-affiliated stores.
Appearances in the Work (Gordos)
Battle Story
In the ZAC 2032 battle, when an Iron Kong intruded into the border region, a Gordos engaged in reconnaissance duty was destroyed [50]. During the return of Zenebas in ZAC 2041, it had its radio communications cut off by the jamming waves of a Dimetrodon and was then destroyed [51]. In August of ZAC 2099, it provided rear support in order to cover the high-speed combat unit heading toward Mount Olympos [52].
Anime
In Zoids -ZOIDS-, it was used on many fronts because it was the only large-scale machine deployed in large numbers by the Republic, and it also served as one of the main forces in battles such as the Battle of Guygalos. On the other hand, it often played the role of being a foil; it was destroyed by Raven’s Geno Saurer, and there was even a scene where its Zoid Core was extracted for the revival of the Death Saurer.
Games
Zoids: Central Continent War
Zoids -ZOIDS- Evil God Resurrection! ~Geno Breaker Chapter~
Both the standard type and modified Cheyenne appear in the large Zoid category [Note 13].
ZOIDS ~White Silver Beast Machine God Liger Zero~
ZOIDS: Empire vs. Republic – Genes of the Bio-Machines
ZOIDS2: Helic Republic vs. Guylos Empire
Appears as an L-size unit on the Republic side. In both games, it can be modified into enhanced types, and in Helic Republic vs. Guylos Empire, the modified-variation machines “Gordos Cannon” and “Cheyenne” are implemented. In Empire vs. Republic – Genes of the Bio-Machines, the only weapon aside from the 105 mm High-Speed Railgun is the “20 mm Beam Launcher.”
ZOIDS SAGA series
ZOIDS FIELD OF REBELLION
Appears as a medium Zoid usable by the player from the very start of the app’s release [54]. Although the game’s setting is based on ZOIDS concept art, its design is implemented to follow the traditional kit almost exactly. As a Gordos-exclusive weapon, the original large twin live-ammo cannon “Twelve-Five” can be mounted on the machine’s sides. Additionally, for the app’s 1-year anniversary, an original-color version [55] appeared, and various unique variations were developed.

The Long-Range Buster Cannon and 4-barrel Shock Cannon (equipment equivalent to the Gojulas Cannon Set) are attached, increasing firepower. The back-mounted radar is linked with them to conduct long-range firing.
Its first appearance was in Shogakukan’s Zoids Official Fan Book Volume 1, but the machine designation was first printed in Official Fan Book Volume 2. In game works, corresponding types appear as “Gordos Cannon” in Helic Republic vs. Guylos Empire, and as Gordos (Long-Range Firing Specification) in the ZOIDS SAGA series. However, Gordos Cannon does mount the Long-Range Buster Cannon but does not mount the quad Shock Cannon. In Helic Republic vs. Guylos Empire, it is a modified Zoid positioned between the unmodified Gordos and the Cheyenne described later.
Activities in the Work
In the Battle of Olympos in ZAC 2099, its firepower supported the high-speed combat unit led by Colonel Halford. By ZAC 2101, deployment to the Republic Army’s heavy artillery corps alongside units such as the Cannon Tortoise and Gunbluster is confirmed.

| Stabilizer |
A machine that mounts equipment extremely close to that of the Gojulas the Ogre onto a Gordos, and is regarded as the highest-spec machine among the Gordos line.
Its origin is the example modification from the Modification Set <For Large Republic Mecha> released in 1987, but its unique name and specs were provided by the sticker included with the Zoids Wafer Chocolate product sold by Morinaga that same year. In the instructions for the Modification Set, one is directed to mount the Long-Range Buster Cannon and Energy Tank on the back, missile pods on both forelegs, a quad rapid-fire gun (quad Shock Cannon) on the left side, and a stabilizer on the tail. However, in the photographs printed on the package, the 20 mm Beam Launchers (the TRZ 20 mm Linear Laser Gun and ARZ 20 mm Beam Gun), which are originally Gordos equipment, are relocated to the head (snout section).
In the games Zoids -ZOIDS- Evil God Resurrection! ~Geno Breaker Chapter~ and ZOIDS2 Helic Republic vs. Guylos Empire, it also appears under the same name. The armament configuration is almost identical to the Cheyenne modification example, but the TRZ 20 mm Linear Laser Gun and ARZ 20 mm Beam Gun are returned to their normal Gordos mounting positions (the energy tubes are also omitted), and a pair of beam guns called the “Long-Range Gun” is mounted on the head (snout section).

Appearances in the Work
Battle Story
In August ZAC 2101, it can be confirmed in battle in the Trim Highlands–Bifrost Plains of the Dark Continent.
Manga
It was planned to appear in the web comic ZOIDS Mōsō Senki “Blue Savior,” but because Mōsō Senki itself was discontinued, this episode was never produced. According to released information (the kit box description and Zoids Core Box’s included “Proitzen’s Rebellion”), the Cannoneer Gordos was originally a machine intended to work in combination with the Fire Fox, and both were scheduled to be deployed to the Helic Republic’s Ray Force Angels. However, because the Fire Fox was stolen by the Neo Zenebas Empire’s intelligence forces, it is said to have been handed over to Second Lieutenant Buster Aesop, who had lost his Buster Tortoise.
Parasauros
| Affiliation | Helic Republic |
|---|---|
| Classification | Parasaurolophus-type |
A modified machine that appeared in the July 2001 issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic and in Official Fan Book 3. Based on Gordos, it is mixing-built into a Parasaurolophus type using parts from the CP-10 Gojulas Cannon Set, Elephander, and Command Wolf. A small number of units produced were deployed to the heavy artillery corps.
Blitz Hornet Carrier Type
| Affiliation | Helic Republic |
|---|---|
| Classification | Stegosaurus-type |
A modified Gordos published in the November 2003 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine. The original electronic warfare unit is removed, and an aircraft-control radar, a parking hangar capable of carrying up to seven Blitz Hornets, and a pilot standby space are installed. Furthermore, it possesses a special weapon called the “Artificial Zoid Core Cannon,” which emits energy obtained from the Core Blocks.
Gordos GPS Specification
A modified Gordos that appeared in Episode 38 of the anime Zoids -ZOIDS-. It mounts magnetic weapons that even the Imperial Army had not yet been able to put into practical use. It is equipped with a large container on its back, from which magnetic-guidance units are launched and deployed in various locations; these units have the effect of deflecting the trajectory of cannon fire emitted by Zoids.
These magnetic-guidance units are proposed for introduction into the GF as anti-Charged Particle Cannon equipment by Fine in Episode 54, but the proposal is rejected.
White Gordos
Appears in Episode 3 of Zoids -ZOIDS-. A machine with white body coloration and a blue canopy. It had been abandoned and gone feral after a war 50 years earlier, yet continued to wait for the day its comrades would return, protecting its fortress the entire time. Despite having damaged forelegs, receiving no maintenance for 50 years, and lacking a pilot, it still fought Irvine’s Command Wolf head-on in close combat—a type of engagement it normally struggles with—and displayed such high combat ability that Irvine called it a “battle-hardened Zoid.”
Long Buster Gordos
Published in the August 1986 issue of Shōgaku Sannensei (Magazine for 3rd Graders). It carries a long-range cannon on its back that can also be mounted on Bigasaur, Gordos, or Mammoth, and attacks enemy bases from afar. In the bonus card included with the December 1988 issue of the same magazine, it is also referred to as “Cannon Gordos”.
